Got two potential customers!

So I went from not having a gig to having two potential customers in the same day! I gotta meet with one of them tonight so I gotta go and type up the contract. Thank God that I renewed my Craigslist ad! Ya'll have a great weekend!

At a career crossroads?

I ain't gonna lie. The morning didn't start off the greatest. I learned that the job that I interviewed for (and mentioned last week) went to someone else. This has been the seventh job interview that I've been to that didn't lead to a job offer. I started to feel upset and wondered if being a DJ is the only thing that I'm good at (and even that job isn't a sure and stable thing).

Of course I'm not gonna give up. I don't know how to quit. It's just how I feel sometimes. Are there any other DJ's out there who have been (or currently) in my shoes? Do you DJ full-time, part-time and/or looking for a second source of income? Leave a message or share this with a friend.

Well, time to get back to modifying a resume for this job announcement. That should take about an hour. Hopefully something good comes out of it. Talk to you guys tomorrow!

Still searching...

Hey, I hope everyone's weekend was great. I'm taking a little break from job-searching (both DJ and full-time jobs) to give you today's post. Nothing necessarily new today but if you haven't checked out my Mixcloud or Facebook pages for my latest mixtapes, please do so and drop me a line, like, etc. Also, please spread the word about this blog because I would like to talk with more of you and we can start getting some group discussions going. Until tomorrow, take it EZ!

Quiet weekend for me...

Well, a quiet weekend for me, seeing that I have no gigs this weekend. But I've stumbled upon an old "Yo! MTV Raps" documentary online (thanks to +HippyHai). I used to watch this show as a kid and for the artists they interviewed, I played some of their music at my gigs. Memories...
See you guys next week and don't forget to like, follow and check out all my social media links!

Check out my Mixcloud page

Hey ya'll. There have been some of you who told me that they can't view or listen to my YouTube videos. That is because whenever I post one of my mixtapes, it's hit-or-miss whether my video stays up there due to copyright rules. So I've gone over to Mixcloud.com to post my mixes without many issues. I guess the overseas guidelines for posting copyrighted material are a little different than here in the states. So please check out my Mixcloud page for new and old mixes. Thanks!

Marketing ideas

Sorry for the delay but I was at my interview this afternoon. I think I did well but won't know for sure until I get the call.

Anyway, back to the subject at hand: DJ. I started this blog because I'm trying to find new ways to generate business for myself. So far, the thing that gets me the most business is renewing my Craigslist ad. I have also put up lawn signs, flyers, Facebook, etc. If there are any other DJ's out there, what do you do to promote business? Leave a comment below. Even if you're not a DJ and you have a small business, leave those tips too. Thanx!

Study tonight for my...interview?

Hey out there.

I'm a DJ and although the work is fun, let's be real: it's not as steady a job as I like it to be.

That means that some DJ's have a full-time job to fall back on, or like myself, are looking for a full-time job. So every weekday, I treat my job search like an actual job: search between 9 to 5 with a lunch break at noon and little breaks in between. But today is a little different.

See, all those days of scrubbing my resumes and applying for jobs has led to yet another job interview tomorrow. But as all job-seekers know, you can't just go to an interview. You have to practice the night before. It's just like studying for a big exam.

So I got my TAP manual from my Navy days, one or two interview-question websites bookmarked and all of my notes ready. The things that quickly got me a job in the past aren't enough anymore. Apparently, thank-you notes are a must nowadays, not just an extra touch. So after I get off of here, I'm gonna read over the resume that was tailored to the position, rehearse the questions, say the answers with no hesitation and with confidence. If I can carry on a conversation with the same enthusiasm as I do while behind a mic, maybe I'll have a better chance of getting the job.

Okay, you got me. So today's post isn't about deejaying. But DJ's have other lives too. Leave a comment and don't forget to follow me. Later...
